3D printed fashion items for Walter van Beirendonck, part of Antwerp 6 and former director of the fashion academy, we at Antistatic created a series of 3D printed fashion items for his new clothing line. We used FDM printing with flexible filament to create semi-flexible spikes and diadems that perfectly match his designs.
The production of these unique fashion items started with a thorough consultation with the customer, Walter van Beirendonck. He has a long history in the fashion industry and is known for his innovative and creative designs. Our collaboration included digitizing the technical sketches, prototyping printed parts and the actual production of the 3D printed parts.
To make the spikes and diadems, we chose Semi-Flexible RealFilament, which enabled us to achieve the flexible properties needed for the fashion items. The production technique used is FDM printing, which is how the printer builds up the model layer by layer by extrusion. It is an environmentally friendly solution as no petroleum products are used. We produced the items using our local 3D printers in the heart of Antwerp, where we can process both small and large batches.
During the design process, we used CAD modeling in Fusion360, allowing us to create accurate and detailed designs that were suitable for production. We also created product visualizations to help Walter make decisions about the final shape and aesthetics of the fashion items.
After printing the spikes and diadems, we provided a number of post-production services to prepare the items for use. This included applying a coating, removing supporting elements and performing thorough quality control. These processes ensured that the final products met Walter's high standards and were ready to be integrated into his new clothing line.
