Together with Evolution21, a furniture designer and manufacturer, we digitized and optimized their sofa modules for use in other 3D applications, with realistic details and creases in the cushions thanks to physics simulations.
The materials for these models were later added by an external party.
Evolution21, an expert in modular furniture elements and materials, came to us with the request to digitize their various sofa modules and optimize them for use in other 3D applications.
We started developing the sofa modules in Blender3D, using surface modeling and non-destructive modifiers to create the most realistic result possible.
We then applied physics simulations, such as cloth and internal pressure, to the cushions of the sofa modules. As a result, the cushions fall on the sofa in a realistic way and get natural wrinkles and deformations.
To ensure that the models would be suitable for other 3D applications, we optimized and exported them in the small but versatile FBX format.
