BOOTI is designed by Belgian 3D designer Anna Beirinckx.
A multi-functional 3D printed vase inspired by the shapes of the female body.
Ideal for paint brushes, toothbrushes, dry flowers or just as a statement piece.
The vases will be locally in Belgium 3D printed on request.
The 3D model must be produced in 3 sizes that's why it was useful to have a standardized print profile to create. This way, you can quickly test and save changes if the result improves.
The filament cost and the number of printing hours must remain minimal. Fortunately, the model allows you to enter”vasemode“to print. Also known as spiralized contours mentioned in the Cura slicer.
With this printing technique, you have none suffer more from a Z-seam that would ruin the elegant design. Not only that, the printing time has also been halved as a result. For example, a 15 cm BOOTI can be printed in less than 3 hours.
Nevertheless, the model must be sturdy enough to hold soil and a plant. However, that is a problem in “vasemode” because the printer can only print 1 shell layer...
What is possible is the layer width increase. For example, a 0.44mm Nozzle can reach a layer thickness of 0.8 mm print. However, that is the maximum.
You should also note that the amount of material per extrusion has just doubled. As a result, brusque movements are out of the question; the printer needs time to lay down all that material.
So be sure to apply the print speed on, I noticed that 40mm /s printspeed achieved a great result with a direct extruder 3d Printer.
The result of these slicer settings is an elegant model without Z-seam that is mass producible with a failure rate below 5%.
